Have you heard?

VIPS will be hosting a dinner next Thursday night with Dr. PHil Hatlen. Dr. Hatlen comes to us all the way from Texas and he is a nationally known leader in the field of education for the visually impaired. He was one of the creators for the Expanded Core Curriculum and he will be sharing some of his expertise with us next week.

The Expanded Core Curriculum relates to vision-specific skills that your child may need to learn in order to succeed in school and in life. These skills might be reading Braille, learning to use a cane, using low vision aids such as magnifiers, closed circuit televisions (cctv's) or monoculars (similar to binoculars but only one sided and more powerful), social skills and more. Although your child may not be ready for elementary school just yet, the information that Dr. Hatlen has to share is valuable for you as well.

We hope you'll consider joining us on Thursday May 7th as we welcome Dr. Hatlen. This is an event that you do not want to miss. We may not have another opportunity to meet with Dr. Hatlen and what he has to say is definitely worth hearing. VIPS will be providing childcare as well as dinner, but you must RSVP so we have enough food to go around.
